How far away? Melissa 1 child; Michigan 1411 posts

For any future babies I really don't want to give birth at the same hospital, I don't trust them. That hospital was about 35 minutes away and was the closest to me. How far away did you live from the hospital/birthing center that you gave birth at? How far is too far?

Thankfully my hospital is 10 minutes up the road. I'm very lucky. but I know that is no help.

Why don't you trust your hospital? Bad experience?

The hospital I gave birth at was 15-20 minutes away. There was another one 20-30 minutes away in the other direction.

Terrible. I get horrible anxiety even driving by there.

With my first the hospital was about 45 mins to an hour depending on traffic. With the second & third 25 mins to 30 mins away.

An hour with traffic. I think as long as you stay on top of keeping track of contractions, an hour drive should be fine.

The hospital I delivered at was only like 10 minutes away
But my sister delivered all 3 of her kids at a hospital about an hour away from where she lived

The next closest one is an hour without traffic. I wish there were more birthing centers or midwives around here. I couldn't possibly go somewhere that was two hours away.. but I wish I could. I'm not even pregnant but this shit stresses me out lol

57 miles, about 1hr 15 mins from my drive way to the hospital. There is one 10 mins from here that doesn't even have an L&D ward, one 30 mis away that I wouldn't take a dying dog to and then the one I had all of my kids at.

Do you have a friend or family member that lives closer to the hospital you want to deliver at? If so, would they let you stay with them for a short period of time? Maybe the last couple weeks of pregnancy? Or drive to their house when labor starts? Labor there and go to the hospital when ready.

The hospital I delivered at is 10-15 minutes away. I will be delivering there again for this pregnancy.

No, but that would be nice! I need to go to bed. I'm stressing myself out about hypothetical situations lol
