I havenever been on the paraguard, but I HATED the Mirena! I am thinking I might want to try the Paraguard after this baby is born because I always end up with werid side effects to almost all meds.

I am getting Paraguard after this baby, but I had Mirena before and HATED it. I bled the entire 4 weeks I had it and had horrible cramps.

I had Mirena after my first. Never again will that devil thing be thing my body. My hormones were so out of wack. I was pretty much bi-polar. I had no control over my emotions and was suicidal many times on lows. I gained about 50-60lbs mind you I was getting married so I was actually trying to loose or at least maintain. I seriously felt crazy on it. I have tried pretty much every other form of BC out there (no patch no implanon) and all the hormones were making me gain. Nothing like mirena but still I was gaining or unable to loose. I had Paraguard put in about 1.5 weeks ago. So far so good. I bled for about 5-6 days after it was in and had some cramping the first two days. I haven't had my first cycle on it which is really my biggest fear with it. I would never recommend Mirena but so far paraguard has my vote.

I've had Paragard for 2 years and it has never given me any problems. I've never had Mirena, but I like Paragard more simply because it's hormone free.

Never had Mirena, because I don't like the side effects of hormonal BC. I have Paragard, and both of them carry a small risk of it moving and needing surgical removal. So besides that, the only side effects that can come with Paragard is heavy periods and bad cramping, and the cramping is easily taken care of with ibuprofen. And my periods have been pretty normal. And I like that it lasts longer, since I'm undecided if we want more kids. I love my paragard.

I use mirena for 5 years and it was WONDERFUL for me. I felt no side effects.

And I didn't have a baby for 5 years so it did its job hahaha.

I had to get the paragard because I cannot have anything with hormones due to a clotting disorder. I really cannot complain too much about mine. My main complaint is the extremely heavy, painful periods. I don't think everyone gets them though. I just must have been a lucky one
I have had mine in for 4 years and that is the only complaint I have.

I haven't had either but 2 of my friends have. Friend #1 had paraguard and it really messed her up, she had to have emergency surgery to remove it. Friend #2 had mirena and it got stuck up in her and had to have it removed and because of it she cant deliver vaginally.

I've had the implanon and bled like crazy on it.
I'm currently on depo and my only complaint so far is the horrible cramps.
