Positive OPK but not HPT??? Dee_Murr TTC since Feb 2012; Japan 8 posts

Hi,
I'm actively TTC. Feeling very nauseous, sore breast, very tired. I know I ovulated 18/19th of this month due temping, opk and cervically position and mucus. Now 5 days before AF I am feeling off. I took an HPT and it was negative, I think it may be too early, but out of curiosity I took an OPK and it was very strong positive. Can that mean I am pregnant and it is taking longer to get it with HPT. It's only 5 DPO but 5 days to AF. Am I just getting my hopes up? Thoughts?

You wouldn't be able to get a positive at 5dpo because the embryo hasn't yet implanted. Give it another five days and test again. Good luck!

Also, if your luteal phase is only ten days you probably want to get that checked out.

I thought 10-16 days was considered 'normal'

10 days indicates a possible luteal phase defect. You'd for sure want your CD 21 progesterone checked.

My last period was the 28th. Had some ovulation bleeding and ovulated right after. I've never been told it was odd. I usually ovulate earlier than this month, but I think it was stress this month.

If you ovulated later this cycle then your period should be a little late too. Ovulation is what determines when you get your period.

I have a child, I'm not completely in the dark. I just know even when I ovulate late, which doesn't happen often my period is always on the same day. It's like clockwork. But then again, last month was shorter it was February.
