I agree with this.

My oldest is 7 and takes his own showers. He knows that if he takes too long of a shower (he gets a timer and we also warn him when he's got 5 min left) that he'll get a cup of cold water tossed in the shower. It's only happened once that he's had that happen to him.

I'd never force him into a cold shower but I have no problem with the cup of cold water. Both DH and I had that happen to us when we were kids (the cup)

I answered yes, as in that is definitely abuse... not that I have ever done it. I never would, that is horrible.

That's what I'm thinking. You can't tell me sitting in a tub/shower of pain cold water isn't painful! If its just lukewarm water that's not so bad... Still don't see the point though...

Yes, obviously there are other kinds of abuse, like sexual too. But this isn't sexual or emotional abuse.

I agree with this. My niece who is 9 (going on 10 this year) always wants to be the first to take a bath or shower, and she will take at least a 20min shower, and even longer bath. Even if her mom tells her it is time to get out she won't.

As for the cool shower thing, I could see it for pooping if you are going straight to the shower. But not or any other type of punishment. But I certainly wouldn't do it on a child under the age of 3. They have no clue what is right and wrong.

I think this was an overreaction. We weren't talking about a cold shower, we were talking about a Not for fun shower. I didn't have a poop problem with my daughter, but if I did it certainly wouldn't have done me any good to put her in a regular bath. She likes that, it would just encourage her behaviour.

Hosing her off in a room temp shower or even cool (Although, cool water doesn't really clean..) wouldn't be abusive in the slightest.

Meh as a little kid and even to this day I like taking cold showers lol, it reminds me of swimming in a pool or in the ocean at the beginning of the summer.

Nobody's ever forced me though.

A cool/lukewarm shower after poop play isnt a big deal to me.

You made it seem like an ice cold shower.

it did seem like ice cold. my son doesnt care much about lukewarm. loves really warm baths, but doesnt care when the water starts to get cold, he keeps playing.
