I would get rid of the diapers all together, the rash will go away. And alot of kids do this at some point in time, but I think 2 yrs old is way too old to be putting hands in diapers, but I could be wrong, I just never met any kids that were 2 and still in diapers.

Maybe go to a clinic for the rash? But if she is scratching etc.....and its bleeding maybe its a UTI? and being in a diaper again is making it worse.

You have never seen a 2 year old in a diaper?

She's never done it until recently. Once I got the bigger size diapers the rash started going away but then she'd pick at it. I thought about maybe her having a UTI. We don't have clinics or anything like that around here so I have to wait for her doctor to take her, or take her to the hospital & I wasn't too sure if it's ER worthy.

I think either its irritation or a UTI, which cvould be the reason on her not wanting to potty train anymore, she could think it hurts too much, kwim?

My dd is 4.5 and she gets nasty UTI's and they are not fun at all, and she often gets itchy and rashy from them as well, never bled but she does get really red. With her she has no pain when peeing at all, but when she has one she stinks really bad and will have accidents here and there if she startes to hold it in. I would call her Dr again and tell them its not ER urgent but definately urgent enough to be seen quicker

Her pee doesn't really smell & I think she's only bleeding from picking at the rash. I think it might be more from chaffing because the diapers were too small. I will def call her doctor back & see if they can get her in though. I don't want her suffering from a UTI, I had one when I was pregnant with her & that was not fun!

She never actually went on the potty. lol She would tell me she had to go, so I'd put her on it. We'd wait for like 10 minutes & she would say she didn't have to go anymore. She'd stand up & then pee. lol I had put her in pull ups but almost immeditly she broke out in hives so I think she was allergic to them.

mmmmm interesting. Its weird cause if she was always in the diapers its weird she would suddenly get this rash.
Have you changed any of her bath soaps or bubble baths etc......I would definately get it looked at cause its sounds weird to me if nothing has changed and she is picking at it now that its bleeding and no issues with rashes before.

I did change soap in February, around the time she started putting her hands in her diaper. But after I noticed the redness I stopped & now she uses the soap she always used before. My Mom said something about stopping bubble baths so I stopped those & it got a little better. I just think it won't heel because she picks at it.

Ok, makes a little more sense now. Ya my girls are 4.5 and 10.5 yrs old and well lo is 13.5 months old and they do bubble baths but with their body soap 1 day a week, so no infections like bladder or yeast infections that are prone in girls from having bubble baths.

Have you tried any creams at all on it? if so what ones? Oh and what wipes?

I have used powder & that seemed to work for a little bit. I also use stuff called Butt Paste. She uses sent free wipes, I have super sensitive skin so I tried to not use anything on her that I know would make me break out.

We dont get butt paste here well I have never seen it lol I like goats milk based creams they work on my lo.

But you could always do a warm face cloth with mild soap or bum spray on her till the rash goes away it might help the itching or whatever is going on till she stops picking at it.

I'll try that! I've had people tell me hands in the diaper is normal, but I don't think she's doing it just because she's curious or whatever.
