Extended Rear Facing. Ventish Coco&Mali 2 kids; California 4164 posts

DS turned 3 yesterday! His car seat is still safely and comfortably rear facing with room to grow so obviously I won't be turning him anytime soon. Yesterday I was showing my mom pics and telling her how proud I was we have made it this far. For the most part she has been the only one who has supported this until now. She started going off on a tangent about how he is 3 now and not a baby anymore. She was basically yelling at me to turn him. I hate being the only one who is actually educated on this subject and everyone else telling me I'm hurting my children without even looking into it.
That's all, carry on....

I know it's hard to change people's miseducated perception especially when you're the minority. Just do what you know is right.

Rfing has nothing to do with being a baby or a big kid. Ffing Ian a milestone into being a big kid

If it makes you feel better, we can relate. I ALWAYS hear it from my Mom. The only person that supports me is my husband. Our son turned 3 at the beginning of Feb and he's still proudly rear facing. I asked him if he wanted to flip forward and he told me no.

I get shitted on on a daily basis for ERFing my dd and she is only going to be 14 months old and is not even 20lbs yet. Where I live even the car seat techs dont believe in ERFing its not something that is done here.
I just recently found a few moms on a fb moms group who know as much as I do and are ERFing their kids too.

I just learned to ignore it from my parents, and since I cant drive at all and they are my transportation to go places sometimes, my mom has said that she will not allow my dd to ERF in their car as soon as she hits 22lbs, I was like ya f**k you.

Just ignore it.
Now I get to hear about how me cloth diapering my dd is a big useless deal too. lol

I agree! It just bugs me so much. She started saying that if we got into an accident his knee could hit his face and break his nose. I really doubt that but I'd still rather have a broken nose than a broken neck.

I don't drive either so I feel for you. And I have 2 erfing kids, 3 years and 16 months. I would never turn a 22lb kid that's horrifying to me!

There's some People who will just never get it. I've told 2 of my coworkers about erfing, showed them the videos, and they even saw my 3 yo rfing. They still both turned their kid around BEFORE the law! I'm like WTF?!?! So not only put yor kid in danger but break the law too  one ffed at 1 and 16 lbs and one at 10 mos and 20 lbs. and SOs brother, psssh forget about it  they've turned all their kids before 1. They said its ok cause they took it to te police station and they I stalled it for them.

I just lost two good friends because they wanted nothing to do with me politely educating them. I didn't even go about it in a judging way, but rather an "oh by the way, did you know" and it still didn't matter. I know this sounds horrible, but I can't be friends with someone who is going to ignore me and put their kid in danger especially after I've offered to HELP them get a better seat, install it, etc. It's beyond my control at this point, but how sad ya know?

I mean honestly most seats at least will last til 2, even cheap ass ones. My dd Fred til 3 in an alpha omega. They don't have fancy erfing limits. Just normal ones. And they don't know any different than rfing if you don't tell them.y one coworker said she did it cause he liked ffing better. Seriously?!? How would he know

And your son is adorable btw :) my dd had no issue rfing either. And now he has no issue extended harnessing.

I dont get how some pll think its 1 and or 22lbs and not 1 and 22lbs, its a bare minumn of the law but it does not make it any safer, I mean we all know that right? so why is it so hard for others to get it and do it.

I get shitted on for not using snow suits too lol and its like -40 here all winter without the windchill. Ppl look at me funny all the time and whisper OMG no snow suit on her kid horrible. I am like uh, lets see in a nice warm van under a nice thick blanket all comfy and safe wearing nice fleece outfit with a thinner fleece sweater on with hat mits on. on their kids is bundled up spo much under the straps that my 124lbs 11 yr old can fit in there.
