For parents whose kids were late walkers.... when did they start showing interest in walking and do it consistently?
My LO is 16 months now and not walking. At his 15 month appointment the pedi said she's not worried because there's nothing wrong physically or developmentally. He's just stubborn. He CAN take steps, he CAN stand on his own... he just won't. Whenever he does I praise the daylights out of him and try to get him to use his walker and walk with me holding his hands. I try to motivate him but I don't force him. He's a great crawler so I feel like there's probably not much incentive because he can get where he needs to go. I know he will walk in his own time and I'm not worried, just getting impatient lol. He's 24 lbs and getting heavy for me to carry around!
Start putting things up just out of his reach so he HAS to stand to get to them?
My daughter would THROW A FIT even holding her hand to stand. I just had to quit and she finally just up and went for it one day. It was a fun process though. From throwing a fit, clapping after every single step, and then just walking.
That's a good idea. I've got stuff on shelves that he'll reach for but he always either gives up or wants me to get them. I'm sure once it happens it will be quick, though.
DS turns 14 months on the 28th, and he just started walking around (holdimg onto stuff of course) about 2 weeks ago.
Yeah he can walk if he holds onto things, he's been doing that for a bit. I guess our guys are just taking their time! lol Love your profile pic btw.
