Does waxing really make hair grow back darker and thicker? ♀NoBoysAllowed 19 kids; San Diego, California 51862 posts

I have peach fuzz along my jaw line, kind of extending from my hair line. It's super fine and super light. You can't notice it unless you're right up in my face, but sometimes my foundation makes it more noticeable. I want to get it waxed, but I don't want it to grow back darker and thicker, 'cause if that's the case, I'd rather just deal with it. I've also heard that it's a myth, but I don't know if that's true or not.

No, waxing, NOR shaving makes hair grow back thicker or darker. Shave may make it APPEAR darker at first since it the hair is growing back with a blunt edge instead of a tapers edge.

I always experienced the opposite, since your pulling out the root, it starts growing finer, shaving since you're cutting it, grows in thicker (or at least the appearance of it).

Its a myth. shaving will because it cuts the hair off at a thicker section so when it grows out the hair is thicker but waxing pulls the whole hair out so it grows back the same or finer sometimes.

Waxing will make it finer. Shaving makes it thicker and darker, at least that's the case for my legs.

Waxing doesn't make my hair thicker or finer.

I recently started waxing my lip fuzz too. It f**king HURTS! LOL I thought that it would be a piece of cake since waxing my brows barely phases me anymore but no, I actually teared up a bit.

Do you wax it yourself? I tried waxing my brows myself once, but I suck at it, I guess. Nothing came off.

Hell no, there's no way I would have been able to rip it off myself. It was all I could do to force myself to sit in the chair, LOL Once when I was about 19 I bought a waxing kit to wax my bikini area. It didn't have strips, just the wax and you were supposed to let it harden and just rip up the wax. I took a deep breath and tried pulling it off. SO MUCH PAIN! And because I didn't know what the hell I was doing I put it on WAY too thick. It never completely hardened so it was this sticky soft goop all mixed in my p***s. I ended up slowly peeling it off one tiny bit at a time and basically plucking my p***s. It was more or less torture and never ever again will I attempt waxing any part of my body.
