Dark(er) urine. roflcopterrr Arkansas 478 posts

When I wake up in the morning or from a nap or whatever, my urine is either a dark yellow or an orange. It clears out some during the day, yet every morning it resorts back to that.
I have a past with kidney infections, UTIs, and kidney stones. Believe you me, after having DS, I had either a kidney infection or UTI for 17 months, so I could tell you pretty quickly if I had a UTI or not.
Any idea of what this could be?

It's generally more concentrated when you wake up, thats why they say to take a pregnancy test with first morning urine.

either kidney or bladder infection, or dehydration. Are you drinking water regularly?

I drink at least a gallon, gallon and a half a day.
The only time I really don't drink water is at work, and then I'm just trying to drink something to keep my sugar up.

I was told that even if you're drinking a lot of water during pregnancy, the baby takes a lot of it and can result in your urine being darker than what it usually would be after drinking water all day........ at least that's what the nurse at my OB's office said to me.....

I didn't know you could drink TOO much water!

yep there IS such a thing as too much water... too much water can dehydrate you just as quickly as not drinking enough. (I couldn't believe it either, but it can happen)
