Quoting tinana +2:" Gotcha. When my youngest was born 3 years ago in NY, they did ask if he would be receiving them (he ... [snip!] ... receiving them (he did). I'm not an L&D nurse but I should probably still know the law  I don't know if it's changed."

Ill ask a DR at next visit, and will make my wishes known at the hospital..Hopefully ill be given the option to delay. I was just shocked by what I read on how strict the state is, im not used to that.

I said forced/paid.... Dr's are paid to push vaccines, nurses aren't as "lucky"
If you aren't forced to push vaccines then why do you feel the need to harp on people for not getting vaccinated? As a nurse, it is YOUR job to be educating people of the risks of vaccinating and NOT vaccinating not saying stupid shit like "why not read up on why you SHOULD give them instead of why authority is evil?"

No, as a nurse it's my job to do what's in my job description- if I were a public health nurse for example, it might be my job to educate people on all of those vaccines. Or even an L&D nurse. As a med-surg and pediatric nurse, it's not my job. I wasn't giving her a hard time and if you took it that way, go make your own thread about it

So, wait a minute...you work with babies/children who receive approx. 38 vaccines before the age of 2....and you are trying to tell me that it is not your job to be educating people on vaccines??! hahah wow. pathetic.
No. Your job is to be a robot and have zero independent thought.

No... I don't give any vaccines to any children. Very very rarely, a flu vaccine. Why would I be responsible for educating on that? Why, as a parent, when your child was hospitalized for something like an appendectomy or an orthopedic surgery or a pneumonia, would you feel it was appropriate to ask me instead of the nurse that GIVES your child the vaccines? IMO as a PARENT, that's strange. You would know me for 12 hours, you would know your pediatrician's nurse for years.

So, if it is not your job to be educating people on vaccines then you have no business telling people why they should be vaccinating. Regardless of what kind of nurse you are, you should have SOME basic medical knowledge on what should and shouldnt be injected into your body.

Someone in my DD group lives in NY, and doesn't want the eye gunk or vax for her baby either so her midwife asked for the info because she didn't know and she found out that if she doesn't have them administered that child protective services would actually become involved and the midwife would get in trouble for it as well.

So it's okay for uneducated mothers to be educated others on it then? Alrighty  No.

Furthermore, because I don't know if the 3 she's inquiring about are state mandated at birth right now doesn't make me a zombie. You're a moron. And clearly a bit ignorant yourself. Should I read up on it? Of course I should. Maybe you should too. I didn't see you offer a hint of anything useful in here, so really.... still....

IMO its a parents choice to educate them selves. This isnt a vaccine debate, I did my research and made up my mind and was just shocked that my state is going to try to force me to vax...
