Irritation under my daughters neck ☆ Erica 1 child; Flat Rock, Michigan 1439 posts

It's so red and the top layer of skin has chaffed off and there's always this white clumpy stuff there. I do my best to keep it dry but she's such a drooler that it's hard. I've tried baby powder, i've tried desitin, her doctor just keeps saying keep it dry but that's not working! And it hurts her, i don't know what else to do...

When this happened to my baby I cleaned it good then let it dry then put a super thin amount of diaper rash cream on the red part and it cleared up. Just gotta clean it good every day. I still have the issue sometimes.

I try to put a bib there to prevent milk from getting down there when she's feeding but she drools so much that it's inevitable. I just tried putting desitin on it and she screamed bloody murder, and I'm scared that i'm hurting her, or the cream burns because the skin is so raw =/

keep vasoline on it. like KEEP it on there. it won't hurt a bit to go on like the diaper rash creams can.
everytime you notice her neck getting wet, pat it dry, more vasoline.

no problem! if that doesn't work...she could have a yeast infection there. maybe not...but yeast can grow in any fold in the skin..typically ones that have a consistent amount of moisture.

What should I do if it's a yeast infection? Her doctor kind of annoys me, we're in the search for another. She barely looked at it, I didn't even get to life up the folds to show her before she said "just keep it dry, it'll go away". Ridiculous..

There are some over the counter meds but I have no clue what would be safe. Best thing would be a prescription for nystatin from your doctor. That's what they typically prescribe for yeast in infants. Sorry your doctor's a douche. Hopefully you find a good one soon.
