There are some things that I agree shouldn't affect someone's job.

But I think that DUI is serious, and she HARMED people. I mean, if she had beaten someone with a tire iron would you think she should still be in public office?

I put up a link for the petition :)

I think the double standard I'm pointing out isn't in the parties, but in the media coverage. No one even hardly knows about this and they should. I'd be calling for a resignation if regardless of her affiliation and if I didn't know the cyclist.

But this is a DUI with injury, so something that should lead to jail time.

Don't you think she should have serious consequences, the same consequences any normal person would have?

driving drunk is dangerous social behavior.

anyone in government is in a social job - they are socially visible and their actions serve as a model for what we deem acceptable from our so-called "leaders" and "representatives."

she should absolutely step down for behaving so recklessly in public.

:!:

It's not a mistake, not an accident... It's a dead shit thing to do. She's lucky no one was seriously injured or killed... I wonder if that's why it's not that big of a deal to some? But sweeping it under the rug for that reason if just setting a really bad example. She doesn't deserve anything, especially not flowers and a round of applause.
