You should practice a fire rout plan.....it helps. We do ours once every month, and have several escape routes from the house showing the kids what to do and where to go and the cells are always by the front door, main escape route in case neighbors are not around to call 911, but the portable phones are plugged in at every entry point and by windows,(we have a set of four phones) so that one can be grabbed going out a window or door etc.....

Every family should act out a plan

Quoting ~mama~:" Oh wow. I'm glad you guys are ok."

Thanks. I feel really shitty about the whole thing though. I just keep asking myself how I could have missed that. I mean I am anal about that shit. This sleep deprivation is really taking a toll on my sanity.

It really helps build the kids up to be more prepared in case it ever happens. I am not sure if you have anything around there that does this, but We take family first aid classes. We have an updated one coming up since we havent done it since lo was born.

But a few friends and I get together at one of our houses and pay for first aid to come in and go over everything, they teach the kids CPR etc.....and teach them how to do it on a baby and eachother as well as a parent. We usually do it every 2 yrs or so to re-educate the kids and myself on everything, but its been a while since we did it though. lol

that is actually a really good idea I am going to have to look in to that. i took first aid in school so I know if one of the kids needed it I could do it but it would be a relief to know Dh and the kids could do it as well.

Hey, you've clearly had a shit day and I'm not trying to beat you up over this. I understand sleep deprivation.
I'm just saying, no matter WHY you didn't check the heater, if you're the one who put them in there, I don't see how it's anyone else's responsibility. I get that it sucks and it was scary. But don't blame it on somebody else.
Fact is, if your electrical is that jacked up, you need to get it fixed or, if you're renting, then you need to get the landlord on it. It's obviously a fire hazard. If you're using a gas heater in their room that is that dangerous, then you and your dh both are making some wrong decisions somewhere.
Think about it later I guess. Tomorrow or something. Tonight just hug your babies and be glad they're safe.
