Cream of ______ substitution? kthx. Due January 14; Cleves, Ohio 66540 posts

I love casseroles.... but almost all of them call for a cream of _____ soup. I do NOT like them. I'm lazy, so you'd think I'd go that route... but they gross me out.

Does anyone have any substitution for them?

You could just use sour cream, or broth. I dunno I deboends what's your making I guess. I would just use nothing.

You can use cream cheese, sour cream or just milk.

You can make your own? It tastes a lot better. Or use heavy cream.

Buy organic, they have a much better consistency.

Well I found a chicken and broccoli casserole I want to try. But the 'filling' was simply 2 cans of cream of chicken and mayo. Ew. It looks good, but I can't get past using two cans of cream of chicken.

They have organic cream of ____? :o I had no idea lol. The consistency is what gets me.... it's chunky goo when it comes out of the can. GAG. I think I might try the sour cream/broth though.

Yes lol. It's this brand I buy. health-valley-organic-soup-37952.jpg

Amy's brand has it too, but I've never tried it. Kroger carries it, or should, in their organic section.
I have also seen this one at Kroger, but never tried it cause it's in a pouch thing and it weirds me out

Do you add anything to it? I always add half a can of milk so it's not as gooey lol.m

No... I just used the can because the recipe always says 'undiluted' lol. I really didn't have a problem with it until I tried to make a cream cheese chicken in the crock pot, and it called for a can of cream of chicken. Omfg... it was nauseating. SO and I took a bite and threw the ENTIRE pot away.
