I'm finding a ton of recipes online... a lot of them have varying ingredients. SOO, how do you make yours?

I know potatoes, carrots, stew meat, and onion. What seasonings and liquids do you use?

I use a dutch oven.

I salt & pepper then brown the stew meat, use red wine to scrape the yumminess off the bottom, brown some onions and garlic, add the meat back in, along with the rest of the bottle of wine, add carrots, celery, squash, broccoli, and beef broth to cover it all. Then bake at 300 for 5 hours.

I do roast, potatoes (sometimes I use sweet potatoes, if you do those add them a little later b/c they will get mushy), onions and carrots if you like. I also add a can or cream of mushroom or cream of onion soup, plus a half of can of water. Cook in crock pot for 4 hours. Then I take the broth and thicken it with a rue. Makes an awesome gravy. Yummy!

Do you use beef stock? I'm not using anything that's cream of ___ lol. And just use flour to thicken it? Or should I make a roux? I want THICK stew.

no, I just let the veggies, onion, and beef juices flavor it. Then garlic powder, sometimes I throw in whole peeled garlic cloves.

about an hour before it's done I sprinkle in the flour. yes.. it thickens. You could make a roux.. but the above always works for me and standing at the stove making a roux seems to defeat the purpoe of a crockpot recipe

lol the onions cook way down and are barely noticeable in the end result, and I hate celery but once it soaks up all that wine and broth it tastes good too!

That''s scary, that's what mango does to me...I also get red dots over my lips. I get freaked out that maybe one day if I eat it by accident my throat is going to close up.
