Can I test at home somehow to tell if my water broke? Kady 20 kids; Texas 2616 posts

I heard on here a long time ago that you can test like a pad if you thought your water had broken, now I'm not sure if it's true, or if it's even a good idea, but I was wondering if anyone has done this. Also any expriences that you've had, and wouldn't mind sharing, I'd love to hear them. Thanks in advance!

I'm sure you'd know.... When i had mine broken, it was hot, like bath water...if that makes sense.

You can use ph strips. Blue is amniotic fluid, which is your water, pink is cervical fluid, which is normal discharge.

See that's how I felt when my water broke partially with my oldest! I'm so scared that my water is going to break at home and I can't go in to get it checked out cuz my insurance doesn't cover anything like that. They only pay for 20 prenatal visits, and the normal labs, plus I get unlimited sono's since I'm high risk. I wonder what those little strips are called?

Wow! I'm hoping that if mine does decide to break at home that I won't have to guess. When mine broke with my oldest, I just figured "oh peed myself" lol.

I hear ya! I'm a SAHM and I'm hoping if it does break on it's own, that I'll be at home, not at church, the grocery store or at a friend or family members house. I would never be able to look them in the eye again, lol.

lol I am really involved at church, so much they are all getting together to throw me a baby shower. I think if my water broke at church, I would have the whole darn congregation at the hospital waiting for me to give birth. LOL
maybe I am exaggerating, not all, but definitely all of the staff.

You just gave me a giggle! I'm not too involved with our church at the moment but I should be more involved. :( When we go to the hospital to have our babies, the only people that know we are going is the person, or people that are watching our kids. We usually call everyone after the baby is a few hours old or in the morning, depending on when the baby was born. With our last I'm pretty sure no one would have appreciated getting a call at midnight! So we waited til morning.

haha. with our first, I called my dad asap, he wasnt awake of course at 4am but he loves that he has the recording of it. haha!
we told everyone by the time we got to the hospital (I took my sweet time getting ready, we stopped and got food -we ate in the car because of the whole water breaking issue. lol) we got to the hospital by 7, water broke at 4. lol.
as for church, it can get infectious! we go to a small group (or bible group), its all revolved around food. lol. its potluck and we do different themes to mix it up every week. then DH and I teach the 0-3 kids every sunday, DH is also involved in planning church wide events.

I think it's great that you're so involved in church :) We need to get more involved again.
