Preparing our hospital bags Luneth's Mommy(: 1 child; South Carolina 169 posts

I'm 38 weeks today. At my ob appointment, I was 2 cm dilated and 100% effaced. My son's heart rate was low, so I had to have a non stress test. My ob informed me afterwards that I was contracting the whole time, but they weren't strong enough to be concerned about. The contractions feel like tightening in my upper stomach, and I am still experiencing them. My ob seems to think I'm going to go into labor soon, but who knows. I just know I want to be as prepared as possible once I do go into labor.

I have my son's bag packed:
Diapers
Wipes
Baby body wash head to toe
Baby lotion
Nail clippers
Hair brush
Vaseline
Diaper rash cream
Nasal aspirator
Thermometer
Two sleeper onesies
Two outfits
A few caps
Hand mittens so he doesn't scratch himself
Socks
His baby book for his foot print
Receiving blankets

I have yet to pack my bag, but I plan to pack
A robe
Socks and underwear
Pads
Basic hygiene materials
Going home outfit
Nursing bras
Nursing pads
Nipple cream
Phone and charger
Moby wrap

I feel like I'm missing so much! I intend on exclusively breast feeding, so I won't be packing bottles or pacifiers. I just can't think of what else I may need. Any suggestions would be much appreciate. Thanks.

I also took a body shaper..lol but my mom believes we are supposed to wear them to help us ''bounce back'' and prevent future ailments and such :)

i have like an outfit for me, three for him (depending on his size and/or the weather) my toothbrush, and flip flops, lol. i'm probably underpacking, but... i don't think you need all that stuff. they have diapers and wipes and stuff for baby there.

The hospital will provide much of that for the baby, except the mittens, socks, outfits(but they will have shirts), the baby book and extra receiving blankets. I wouldn't take the other stuff just in case it gets left behind on accident.

Definitely take some slippers or the socks with the non-skid dots on the bottom for you. Camera for taking pictures, laptop to stave off boredom, cell phone, chargers.

I knew you were a first time mom by reading that. Half of it you won't need. That's what I did with my first lol

Idk how I forgot slippers! I plan to be doing as much walking as possible, so they will definitely be needed.

I go this weekend for a tour of the hospital. I wasn't sure what they would provide, so I went ahead and packed it all just in case. I'm very anxious, if you couldn't tell lol...

also, you really don't need a thermometer at a hospital. but.... this is a good bag for traveling and having as your baby bag for when you go places with him after he comes.

Also, optional: camera! phone charger! Some simple makeup in case people do go visit you. ;)

Change for snacks from the vending machine's. Or in my case water. I hated the water the hospital provided, yuck.
Chapstick,

I had quite a few people tell me to bring ChapStick and since my lips are already dry, it is definitely in my bag. Oh and a hair tie/headband if your hair is long. I'm due April 4th so hopefully labor goes well for both of us soon :)

I have a kit for his diaper bag that has the nail clippers, thermometer, nasal aspirator, and medicine dispenser in it. So I went ahead and packed it in his hospital bag. Will I need the baby bath stuff at all for the hospital?

Nope. They will provide all of that.
