Is if safe to get tattooed while breastfeeding?

Most places won't since any infections you may get can be passed to the baby.

no
and no reputable shop will.
There is always a risk with it whether it's infection, staph infection, or even your body rejecting it.

Some people say yes, some say no. Most reputable artists won't take the risk.

I did. As long as you go to a professional place who is certified. It's fine. I asked both of my daughters pedis and my lactation consultant.

Staph infections are not transmitted through breast milk. And your body rejecting it will not affect the baby. The only risks are diseases like aids and hep. B. An you are more likely to catch thoes diseases at the doctors office or hospital than at a professional tattoo shop.

That is nt what I was told in my phlebotomy classes or while I had MRSA while I was breastfeeding. Maybe if it was a staph infected milk duct, or on/around the nipple, but that wouldn't be from a tattoo. And if a tattoo shop has staph on their equipment, they are not professional.

Eta: you can get a staph infection from the grocery store, then touching your eyes or poping a zit.

Exactly, that's why I said earlier a professional tattoo shop. I'm not talking about an unprofessional place. I wouldn't get an unprofessional tattoo weather I was breastfeeding or not.

Ok WildFlower, I don't know what half ass school you took your phlebotomy courses through, but InkDMomma has it Correct. Not only is it a Major Health Code Violation and it is against the law in all states, not to mention that it is a lawsuit waiting to happen. I would become a 3 tire suit; The Artist would be sued, the shop would be sued and then once those were cleared in court the shops insurance company would be suing the shop for violation the law.

The infection can get into your blood and since your blood goes throughout your body it will get into your milk supply. That is pathogens 101.

OP if you find a shop that will tattoo you while you are breastfeeding they obviously unprofessional and you shouldn't be there in the first place. Wait until you are done breastfeeding....it's not like you are gonna die if you don't get this tattoo this week.
