Back Labor? or Back Spasms? Two Princesses 2 kids; Long Beach, CA, United States 7199 posts

Today I've been suffering from a horrible pain in my back.
It's on and off.
Things like my fiance pressing down on the area helped at first, but then stopped helping. Same with the pillow behind me. I don't remember my back hurting like this during my pregnancy in 2010.
I have no clue what back labor feels like. The pain is similar to the pain I get if I sit in certain chairs for too long but way more intense.
What is likely going on here? If you experienced back labor, what was it like?
TIA.

That could be back labor... that's how mine felt, honestly... but then again, if it's only been on and off; idk.

Did it feel like someone was stabbing you in the left side of your mid to lower back? It's been pretty relentless since about 130 P.M. PST.

I'd say something similar to that. Mine weren't really all that sharp feeling, just felt like the muscle was being ripped at...

Yeah that's a good description of it. I feel like someone is ripping the mustle.
I don't know what to do because I'm not certain and my OB is out of town until Monday.
I've been able to eat a lot more than usual today (I have HG) and LO has been very active. Don't know if those are factors or not.

My back labor was still timeable. I got a spasm and it would hold for about a minute, then release for a few minutes, then I'd get another spasm....every 10mins at first, then every 2.

He eventually dropped and rotated so my labor moved to the front.

I'd go in if it happens more than 4-5 times in an hour.

ASAP

Can labor be happening even if baby hasn't dropped?
Did you think you were having back spasms at first?
It's been going on all day so I certainly hope it's not labor.

Yes, I totally thought they were back spasms and decided to go to bed and sleep it off. Woke up an hour later after tossing and turning like crazy the whole time and decided to check the clock. When the spasm ended I laid back down and tried one more time to get comfy and couldn't. When the next spasm came I looked at the clock again wishing for sleep and realized they were TWO MINUTES apart.

And he didnt drop at all until I was in active labor. Not til my water broke 6 hrs after I was admitted

I passed a kidney stone. So apparently my fiance says that is what was wrong. Never had one in my life that I know of.

It very well could have been a kidney stone making you hurt like that... I know they can cause labor-like pain...

Hope not! I know they can be painful. I've never had one before, but I know they suck!
