my DH missed his daughters birth and didnt get to meet her until she was 2 mnths old.

he and I were devastated.
He regrets not being able to be there.

But I sucked it up and did it and we were ok. It is not ideal but you can do it. I am here if u need someone who understands

It's hard not having SO there. DH wasn't there for dd or for 6 months and it sucked. But since it's an elective induction why don't you change the induction date until a more convenient time or just wait for baby to come on it's own?

Cancel the induction? It's elective and he can just leave work when you actually go into labor..
Otherwise with pitocin you generally dilate a cm an hour

My hubby had to miss our dd's birth (our second) He tried really hard to get there but all flights were booked up, he even waited for hours on standby in hopes something would come up (good luck when it's 10 days before Christmas!) He does still regret it and it still bothers him, and we both know it because he pampers her way more than the other kids, like he's still trying to make up for missing it. I would honestly say screw the boss, miss the day of work and let the boss do with it what he will. It may just be a control card for him and if you DH is disrespected in something this important in your lives then what else won't he be disrespectful about.

It seems kind of ridiculous to complain about a choice you are making and something that you have complete control over and is absolutely pointless to begin with.

anytime. And if it majes you feel better I was induced with both my kids my first was 16 hours and second was 22 and inductions usually last long so he will probably make it unless like you said u give birth in like 3 hours.

I went in at 4.5cm and leaking at noon
They broke the rest of my bag and began Pitocin at 1
Got the epidural at 6cm at 2
Started pushing at 6 and he was born at 6:26

They told me they like to see you dilate a cm an hour, so Im not sure if they would adjust your drip, of course all hospitals are different.. Plus the epidural can slow things down, but I went in already in labor and it went very smooth.. The delivery was a different story though

Most inductions are long, mine was 48 hours from the first round of cervidil (but I was induced before 38 weeks). I was 3 cm when the pitocin started at 11 am, my daughter was born 4 hours later, that included an hour of pushing. I had been having contractions for about 22 hours by the time she was born though.

I would have been very unhappy if my husband was not able to be at the hospital the whole time. I had a doula and she was amazing, but I wanted my husband there too.

I would consider postponing the induction if there is no medical reason for it. Plus, I've heard that many women are told not to come in until later when planned for inductions because the L&D wards are too busy. Some are postponed for days.
