My nearly 5 year old son has been coughing like crazy for the entire day (end of his cold) I've taken him to the Pedi. they said he has fluid in his ears and that his lungs and everything are fine. He's had a head cold since the end of last week and we are finally getting over it .. This child is picky and he won't take honey or anything. We've tried what the doctor recommended (hylands) and it hasn't helped. Drinking tons of water and he continues to cough. IDK what to do! Any suggestions would be helpful.
I'm almost positive they make 'cough' lollipops, Im just not sure where you can find them in your area or you could just give him a natural cough drop.

He won't eat a lollipop and he's never had hard candy ..so IDK if a cough drop would be good for him..and even then if he cant stop long enough to breathe wouldn't he choke on a cough drop?? He's running a fever and I noticed if he's "hot" he continues to cough.. hopefully bringing the fever down will do some good. I just gave him a cool bath in hopes that it would help.. it did for about 10-15 min then... boom fever spike again and coughing ensues.
The dr wants to wait before giving him antibiotics but they're almost positive he has an ear infection forming .. which is where the fever is coming from.. ugh. I basically am at a loss. The poor guy has been sleeping in my bed for the last 4 nights (he's been sleeping while I lay awake listening to him cough)
