Good God!

I guess the chocolate would be my main concern...those little white dust looking things that show up on it after a while mean the start of salmonella 0_0

Solution: eat the chocolate first. That's what we do. And I use the bars to make hot cocoa all winter. That stuff goes fast.

Quoting P Pickle Pants:" We got: Pool goggles (he outgrew his from last year), a soccer ball (his popped in a freak accident ... [snip!] ... bunny. Also hiding about 50 eggs. Half real and half plastic. Plastic ones have ONE starburst or small tootsie roll in each."

That's not too bad though. Some of those are like needed things too.

A friend of mine on FB has a baby who is like 2 months old. She got her a huge basket filled with doll and a bunch of other stuff but she did get her a can of formula and put it in there. But I was just like a 2 month old doesn't need any of that stuff except the formula.... that's just a bit much to me.

Yeah I don't like dark but chocolate doesn't last long at all here.

Yeah, we always try to do FUN stuff he needs for Christmas, Easter, and birthdays.

. We LIVE at the pool all summer, so goggles are a must. dH coaches peewee soccer, so having a mini ball for DS to learn with helps SO MUCH. Plus, DH broke his last one (too inflated+crazy hot day+car trunk= BOOM. So, now he gets a SHINY RED soccer ball---his request. Paid $9. Stupid DH and his over pumping!

I also got him an outfit. Plaid shorts and a polo he'll wear all summer.

And the candy is all his leftover Halloween haul, haha. What's left now is going to DH's unit for the Marines to gobble down.

Last year the girls got matching bunnies (thats all the baby got) and savannah got a shirt, a chocolate bunny, and some socks.

This year was a tad overboard but it was things we would of bought anyway so just using easter as the way to give

Katy (14 months)- Custom made stuffed dragon (which she got early), A little purse from fisher price, A new straw sippy, a snack cup, some gummies, a superman shirt with a cape, a small thing of goldfish

Savannah, Tinkerbell panties, My little pony (the last one she needed for her collection), gummies, goldfish, a small snack size thing of chocolate eggs, and her big thing iPod touch which is replacing her current one since the headphone jack doesn't work and we are going on an 11 hour plane ride next month.

Haha and he will never know it's leftover halloween stuff. :) See I don't see an issue going overboard on things they need but on things they don't it's just like WHYY? lol

Yeah at least it's things they need and not just a bunch of junk that they will play with for a bit or a bunch of candy that will make them hyper. My thing is just the stuff that parents buy that kids won't even use. Like I really like to buy things for holidays that the needs as well as things he wants.
Like his first christmas I got him outfits, bottles, and only like 2 little toys because he was 6 months. This Christmas I got him clothes and his leap pad. For his bday he got more clothes and 1 big toy from us. I just like to keep it even with stuff he needs and stuff he wants.

I don't get it either.

Plus, i prefer spending on experiences, not things. Zoo membership, aquarium trips, museums, theme parks, mini golf, bowling, movie theater ($6 total for me, DH and DS to see a movie on base, etc.

Movie is $11 with snacks at the base theater. Saw "Jack the Giant Slayer" today and got a large popcorn, small popcorn and 3 ice waters...for $11)

I cant stand cheap crappy toys. My grandma sent them these like wicker purses that had to come from the dollar clearance section They basically went right to the trash after the required pictures has been taken. They dont get a ton of candy to the snacks were things they eat regularly anyway. We arent big on easter at all and my oldest is deathly afraid of the Easter Bunny. I told her he was bringing her a basket of goodies and she cries for 30 minutes. I had to lie and tell her it was actually clover the bunny from sofia the first. Then it was ok. She is also afraid of santa and flips over the mention of his name.

Yeah when Peyton gets older and interested in that type of thing we will definately be spending more to do things like that instead of buying him little things but right now he's almost 2 and all he cares about are the little things. Ha. But I even told DH I'd rather save our money to take him to educational things like the zoo, aquarium, and COSI (the science museum that allows you to do a lot of different things, don't know if you've heard of it) but I want to give him those experiences to remember not just a bunch of stuff that will get used for a little while then tossed.

My inlaws got us an annual membership to the SF Zoo for xmas. Much better than all the crap toys my grandparents bought the girls.
