My co-worker has BC/BS of Kansas. Right now, they will cover a manual pump.

From what I read on BCBS of Il's website is that they cover manual ones but the lady I talked to said they're not complying.

I have HMSA ...I called my insurance company and they told me in our state insurance has to cover a breast pump whether they pay for all of it or half of it...just so happens my insurance pays for all of it!....so my doctor gave me a prescription, I went to target and got a madela electric instyle pump...

Bcbs of Arkansas just called me today so see if I delivered yet. I only have 60 days to put in for my Medela pis. I called in February and they told me it was only a manual, so they upgraded in the last month or so! I am so happy except I already bought mine for $250 and can't return it since I opened it. So now I have a back up which is really nice.

How confusing. :(

If their policy RIGHT NOW is to cover manual pumps, and they won't... it might be worth a phone to the state insurance commissioner.

The co-worker I mentioned..... her policy will cover UP TO the cost of a manual, so if she wants an electric, she'll have to pay the difference.

No I bought it at Target and they dont have you go through anyone like the hospital or a normal store they just send it 7 days after baby gets here. They were very sympathetic about my situation which doesn't help money wise but they weren't asses about it. It just sucks I bought my pump after they told me I would only get a manual and going back to work I need a double electric.

I'm getting ready to call my insurance company again to figure out why they won't cover the pump.

Aww :( But at least you have a back-up!

I don't know what my insurance covers. Probably NOTHING because I don't have any benefits to cover OB/Prenatal care.:evil:
