Then it must be a "I'm-not-paranoid-and-I-don't-think-everyone-is-out-to-steal-my-child" thing.

If she hadn't had been a store manager with a ton of people around, she probably wouldn't have held my child. But...In that situation, I felt comfortable enough to let her hold him while I paid. That really has nothing to do with your, your choices, or the way you raise your kids. And it doesn't make me less of a mother because I allowed this woman to hold my child. But then again....YOU wouldn't allow your child to be held by a stranger. Just because you would/would not do something.....I should abide by the same rules?

Ehh. I'm pretty cautious myself. But...I was quite comfortable with the situation. As a mother, I didn't find anything potentially dangerous that could happen so I didn't make a big fuss when she reached over and held him.

It was one of THOSE situations where I would have done just about anything to get out of that store and fast.

Okay. When your child gets taken cause you let a random stranger hold them, and mine doesn't, then come talk to me.

I would rather be safe than sorry. You have no idea what people will do now-a-days.

I never go anywhere without a diaper bag. I don't like to be unprepared, even if I'm just running into a store for a second.
But I got lucky with DD anyway though, she never once cried in public, I'm sure if I handed her to a stranger she would of though.

Has my kid cried inconsolably in public? Yes. Did I hand him to a stranger so I could finish what I was doing? No. I left and went to the car until he was calm.

DS either doesn't notice the difference in strangers or he doesn't care. He'll go to any one in my family. As long as he's fed when he's ready, changed when he's ready, and burped........He has no worry in the world.

 This was his first moment and uh....Lesson learned!! I think he and I will just stay home all day and never run errands until his daddy gets off work.

No one said any of those things. You are a pro at trying to put words in everyone's mouths.

DD knows right away if it's someone she doesn't know, she does NOT take well to strangers, never has. If I handed her to someone she would of flipped. I wouldn't consider doing that anyway though, too many crazies in this world.

Will do.

I'm not naive enough to think that nothing bad will ever happen. Do I go around handing my son over to any random person who will hold him? Obviously not. Did I feel comfortable enough to let the woman, who never left my side and was surrounded by many people, hold him so I could pay, get the medicine, and then get the carseat out of the basket? Yes. Is this something that happens every day? Obviously not.

I'm glad you would never let a stranger hold your kid. Really. Super stoked for you.

I'd rather be paranoid about the safety of my child than put my faith in some random person. Shame on me.

It doesn't have to be said.

"I would NEVER let some random stranger off the street hold my child..." What exactly is the point in saying it, if not to say that because you would never, I should never, as well? (honest question...)

I can see your logic there. A manager is not quite the same thing as a random person. They are someone well known by the store employees and if they were crazy enough to run off, there would be no doubt who they are and police would have plenty of information about how to get a hold of them. If they were crazy enough to child steal, I can't imagine they'd do it where they work. But I'm not crazy so maybe that logic doesn't matter to them lol.

Not sure I would have handed my kid over, but I don't think you're a bad parent for doing so.
