Myself personally, I do not believe another human being has the right to take a life in any circumstance. What gives anyone the right to do this? They should just be took out of society for the rest of their lives. You say comfortably but it sure can not be much fun knowing you will never get your freedom again.

I know quite a few people who have been in prison & its not like they portray it on tv. They have commensary (sp) where they can buy snacks ect... they have cable tv, a library, radios, visits with their families. Plus he will be in protective custody so he won't have to worry about the other inmates killing him, which will happen if he's in general population

This is what I am inclined to think... I say throw him in jail, chuck away the key... no visitors, no kind of privileges at all. Just him in a cell for the rest of his days... Treat him as the animal he is and see how "pleased" he'll be then.

To me, the death penalty just gets him out of taking responsibility for what he's actually done. If only jail wasn't some glorified place.

I know it's not like on tv, lol. And I know over here they can get all sorts inside. I know people who have done double figures and I know nothing they can get inside, can even compare to freedom.

I know everyone is different but if it was me, i'd rather kill myself then spend my life in jail. I know some would prob rather spend their life in jail instead though.

I have to agree a little. I would hate to be in jail for the rest of my life but some people just don't care. My bil always does something dumb to get his parole revoked & goes back to prison. I honestly think he prefers it in there

Or change the death penalty to something completely torturous. Like being eaten alive by something... Buried alive even? Stabbed slowly a hundred times and be left to bleed out? Be shot heaps of times in places that won't kill instantly but will inflict lots and lots of suffering pain...

Anything that would seem inhumane... but he deserves it.

Yep.

Normally, I'm not an eye for an eye kind of person. In this case, I am but I agree with Drea. Inmates in jail develop interesting and tortuous ways to kill other inmates.

Considering he massacred a lot of people, including children, he'd be a prime target; however, he's also likely to be heavily guarded as well, I would think.

I think if he goes to prison, he should be in solitary confinement for the rest of his sentence (aka life) and get nothing but food and moderate exercise. Perhaps a few books.

Oh yeah, he'll be in protective custody I'm betting. All the benefits of general population but he'll never have to share his cell, they might even let him go to the commissary/cafeteria/exercise room/tv & computer room alone. Doesnt seem right.

He'll probably end up in a Supermax federal prison and those places are as close to solitary confinement as prisons can get. Regardless, being able to live out his life is not a suitable punishment.

I haven't been following this story over the past several months, but I thought that part of the reason why he did it in the first place was because he was flunking out of his grad school program and he figured he'd do ok in prison, where he wouldn't even have to bother with a career.

I think the victims' families should get to decide, and it sounds like they've been consulted. If I got murdered, I wouldn't want my murderer given the death penalty, but I'd want my family to have as much peace as possible. So I'd want it to be up to them. Whatever they'd need. If someone I love was murdered like this, I don't think I'd ask for the death penalty. I can't even say why, exactly. I guess I just don't believe in the "an eye for an eye" stuff. As long as they're removed from society, that's good enough for me. I don't love the idea of keeping them alive on taxpayers' money, but I can't imagine saying that anyone "deserves to die" unless it's a matter of euthanasia or something like that. I'd let someone die out of mercy, but not justice. I'm not qualified to make those choices.

This. Seriously, if anyone hurt my child you better believe you would see me be one of those crazies on TV that flips out and tortures the person. I will do it with pride too. Prison is too nice for people like that. To hell with that. Death penalty all the way. He doesnt deserve the resources like food, water, a tv in prison, exercise, books, to hell wtih that. He deserves to be buried alive in a concrete pit.
