We don't even have them here.
I'm high risk, I use them if I see one open. But I don't seek them out. And I don't use them til 3rd trimester.
I never used them with my first pregnancy because I wasn't high risk.
Quoting Brookie99:" I personally didn't start using them until I was sore and miserable and my hips started hurting so I ... [snip!] ... guy all by himself get in his vehicle parked in the expectant mother spot and drive away. I've had that happen like five times."
if you are able to walk, you should.
my cousin was born without a leg, an arm, and only two fingers on one hand. she refuses to park in handicapped, because she CAN walk.
We don't have any around here. I mean the only place I have seen one is at the hospital and they have ONE single spot lol.
If I get to the store right as it's opening and there are only a couple of other cars in the parking lot, I might use it, just because everyone is parking close to the store at that time of day, but if SO is with me and he's driving, then I don't really care where we park. If I have been having complications where I have to limit my outings, then I will use them more often. Otherwise I don't make a big deal about walking a few extra feet.
Quoting Squeaky McGee [22 wks]:" I never used it. Pregnancy didn't render me incapable of walking 10 extra steps."
I have used it a few times right after having LO because I was in pain and it was super cold. Never used em pregnant though
I used it when I was heavily pregnant, it was easier for me since I had 3 kids, the youngest being 15 months. I could grab a cart faster and not have to struggle with them all across a parking lot.
I think it's stupid, regardless of trimester. Family parking spots, I understand but parking for pregnant women is unnecessary. They can walk. Hell...they NEED to.
Quoting ohope.:" So, I always see these special parking spots at a lot of grocery stores and especially Toys R Us, but ... [snip!] ... within finding out want to use it out of excitement, but don't because you aren't big? ;) http://i47.tinypic.com/30hri39.jpg"
only used them during the last 4 weeks of my pregnancy when it got hard to walk. in the first and second trimester and even most of the third trimester i would feel guilty taking the spot if there is someone who really needs it while i am fully capable of walking those few extra steps.
same goes for mother/child parking here in germany. makes me furious when i see people park there when they dont need them.
I use them if the handicap spots are taken , pregnant or not i have issues with walking . I think they are a good thing if used properly & not taken advantage of by those who dont have real problems . ( ime walking )
Quoting HotMom21ERF:" i think they are a waste of space. i was perfectly able to walk when i was pregnant. if a pregnant woman isnt able to walk distances, she should get a handicapped tag."
Who wants to go through all that?
I've never used it but if I did it would only be in the very end when it's hard to walk.
I used it because it was available, I had a lot of pain in my hips... I couldn't hardly walk... . I think if you are newly pregnant, you shouldn't use them. There is no reason to use them unless you are on bed rest and then you shouldn't be out shopping anyways! unless your in a wheelchair.
Only one place I know has them any where near here. I never had the option to park there because pregnant or not who ever just parked there.
I only used them after I had dd and she was in her carbed still. I wante to get in and out as fast as I could lol
Technically I, myself didn't park there. The people that were with me did and it was just a regular parking space with the sign. I don't care if people use it or not. I've only seen it at babies r us.
Some women are able to walk perfectly fine but just because some can't doesn't mean other pregnant women are able to. :)
