:( Health issues finally catching up with me...ugh ~*~Modern*Day*Delilah~*~ 17 kids; Connecticut 15826 posts

I'm so frustrated...the older I get, the more my past bothers me...I grew up with a lot of dental problems, and my mom never took care of them...so I was left to suffer with cavities, abscesses etc....then I got married at 17, and ended up with a guy without a car, and so I could never get any dental care. Now I'm going through excruciating pain, as I do a couple times a month, and having issues with a couple of my back teeth. BUT I can't do anything about it...I'm a single mom, with no car and no one to watch my kid even if I could get to a dentist....My teeth cause insane migraines, along with my eyes (I finally got contacts) and there are a few teeth that should have been removed over 10 years ago. This shit depresses me so much :( I am so sick and tired of dealing with this...all I want is to be normal and be able to take care of my health for once in my life. I always hear about people dying from abscessed teeth etc- and I can't help but feel like that might happen to me one day if I can't get this stuff taken care of.

Please don't judge me...I just needed to vent. *sigh*

I'm right there with you. I'm to the point that I can't ignore my dental care anymore either. I. Am. Terrified. I have so many cavities and I do not want dentures. No idea how I'll get the guts to go already. I hope you get it taken care of soon. God bless.

Man that sucks :( any way you can see if there are any dental clinics? Or ask around at all the offices near you and see if they do a "clinic day"? Some places offer free/reduced cost care to the underinsured/impoverished like 1 day every 6 months or so. They fill up really fast though.

I'm so sorry, I can't imagine having to deal with that :( I would call a few dentists and see if they will set up payment plans, MOST will. Take the bus, find transportation, and bring your kids with you.
I wouldn't let it go ignored much longer :(

Well see, the thing is I HAVE insurance, but I can never use it because I don't have a car and everyone I know lives 2 hours away...if I get an appointment, I would have to have someone drive me to the place, and drop my kid off to a family member 2 hours away so I can go to the dentist and get my work done...and then I'd be all alone for days with DD, while I'm on pain pills for the surgery...I just don't know what to do.

We only have a transit bus in town, and they don't go anywhere outside of town. My oral surgeon is an hour away, and there are none closer who take my insurance. I know this stuff will probably kill me eventually....I need to get it taken care of, it's 10 years overdue...I just have to plan it out so I can do it all. Ugh.

Are there any clinics around you that can help? What about dental schools? I know here we have a dental clinic and UB asks for volunteers for dental procedures. :/ Sorry about what you're going through though.
