<blockquote><b>Quoting Minion:</b>" I agree! I hated that when the kid went quiet he kept going, "Preach it! Preach!" Why can't the grown man preach? Leave the kids out of it."</blockquote>

It reminded me of Westboro. You KNOW that those people are ALL KINDS OF CRAY and start doing that with their kids...like when they begin to start talking.

I betcha some of those kids' first words were, "God hates fags".

Fabby. :/

That's sad. :(
I'm pretty sure Jesus wouldn't approve of all that hate he's been taught to spew. Christianity is SUPPOSED to be about LOVE. I am a Christian and I think it's a sin, but it's said to hate the sin, not the sinner. I can not like homosexuality and still LOVE gay people. In fact, I love lots of gay people. It doesn't make them less of a person or worthy of death. That is disgusting what he is being taught.

Uggghhh ..This just aggravates me. I have been brought up catholic, my ds goes to a catholic school (its the only private school in our area). Ds just touches on religion at school most of what they are taught is all about loving and respecting each other, the world etc but most of all being accepting and non judgemental.
I think that boy has been brain washed into thinking what he says is gospel, it sickens me to think that he will probably live out his life behaving and believing that this is right and just.
I teach my children wrong from right, tolorance, acceptance etc so I mostly blame the parents as well as what ever "church/religion" they belong to!
God (if you believe in one) loves everyone right!!

Also, this reminds me of a documentary about the KKK I watched a few weeks ago. It showed these two pretty teen girls and they're singing that they call gospel about loving the white race. And, there was a little boy on there also spewing about hate for other races and using JESUS CHRIST in an attempt to justify their behavior, trying to twist things to make it about 'w***e p***r' and crap. This really does anger me how people use Jesus and the Bible as a reason to do these things, and making Christianity look like it's about hate when it's just the opposite, I can't understand how these people ever got this confused and really believe this is the messages of the Bible and go around preaching about Jesus Christ and hate at the same time, it makes NO SENSE to me.

What these people don't realize is if there was a hell they would be the first ones there because anything that is the opposite of love and kindness goes completely against what Jesus taught. I am not Christian and don't have anything against religion but I absolutely don't like when religion is used as a sword.

Quoting Minion:" Probably because they try to justify it by that "hate the sin, love the sinner" crap. They think they're showing tough love, but they're just being a*****es."

That doesn't make any sense though. I agree with hate the sin not the sinner. To me, that means I don't agree or like homosexuality but I would NEVER EVER treat anybody differently or love them less just because they are homosexual. That should have no factor in loving or caring for somebody and treating them equally. If that's what they're doing, they're very very very confused IMO.

Agreed. I feel like they must be reading a different Bible than me to be preaching so much hate.

Again... I'm agnostic. .. but I hope that should the day come that this god ever reveals himself... I hope he's black! Lol And he very could well be... they have proven Cleopatra was black...

And like has been said so many times, religion has been twisted so many times throughout the centuries to serve the leaders of the times that nobody really has any idea of what to believe.

This depresses me a lot. People teaching their kids to say this shit. I mean if people are gonna have these opinions , I rather they learn it as adults and not have it indoctrinated into their life as children. This is what Westboro does too. It all disgusts me.

To be fair, Jesus, Himself said that He came, not to bring peace, but a sword. He said that the Bible would be so powerful and true, that it would turn family members against each other. It would be so divisive that it would tear families apart.

The people on the streets, quoting Bible, think that is their intended purpose...and, who knows, they may be right. It's not MY style, but I can see how these people feel righteous in their actions.

Quoting ღFrodoliciousღ:" Honestly? It makes me damn glad that my kid doesn't do ANY religion, and will not do any religion until ... [snip!] ... what religion she will want. The way some people drill their 'faith' into their children's heads... genuinely terrifies me. "

I give my child faith but freedom too. We are Jewish but I dont push it down her throat, honestly a lot of her thoughts comes from within her.... the same way my parents raised me. I like that.

But homophobic kids make me sad. I feel for them because its their parents that do it. I always wondered what the Duggar family would do if one of their kids came out to be gay, and with a family that large statistically one probably is but is afraid. Thats sad.

Ill tell you all a story... I have a half sister and I never met her until I was like 22. She messaged me on myspace and said "I want to meet you all and have a relationship, but I have to tell you one thing. Im a lesbian and if you cant accept that then we cant talk." I was dumbfounded.... this was the first time she spoke to our entire family in YEARS and the first time I ever spoke to her. Without a hesitation I messaged her back and said "Lisa, you are my sister. I don't care who you are with as long as they treat you right. I have always been pro GLBT rights, but even still, you are family. So is your wife." And that was that... we have a great relationship. Her Mom disowned her when she came out, she's a horrible disgusting person.

I cried last year when I assigned my students a poem to watch and respond to me in a journal essay. One of my quiet, very intelligent students came out to me and said she was a lesbian and was so glad that I was showing her favorite GLBT activist poet. She said "Shes hot, but shes so intelligent!" She also said "Im lesbian, but not many people know. Thank you for allowing me to connect to the poems this way." I started crying and wrote back to her "Thank you for telling me that, you have given me a gift that you may never understand or you may not understand until you are older. But for you to trust me enough to tell me that... thank you. This is why I became a teacher and I thank you for trusting me." It was the best feeling in the world for her to tell me that!

My daughter knows that being GLBT is okay. We have many talks about prejudices. If my child EVER talked down to someone for who they love (unless it was a relationship where someone was hurt, and in that case they need to HELP them not degrade them) my childs ass would be black and blue. Seriously, you DONT look down on people for who they love.

I have also made my classroom and house a "thats gay/thats retarded" free zone. Another gift a student gave me was coming to me at the end of the year and said "I dont say thats gay very much anymore, but sometimes I slip. But I really do try to not say it because as you said, it hurts people." I get so irate when people say "thats gay/retarded," ugh. My child knows better than to say that!

I truly hope my daughter never becomes friends with someone homophobic.

I personally don't believe that sayings in the bible are necessarly literal in meaning as much as metaphoric. Honestly I would be scared to be in the same heaven as those types of religious fanatics.

I also want to add that they may believe they are right but it will not score them points in the afterlife or give then any special reward. I believe their actions are serving only their egos and not God.and as result slows down their spiritual growth.
