I'm TTC for a friend; Q's about private adoption. unused account 1 child; Crookston, Minnesota 15738 posts

Starting in about a month, my son's father and I will start TTC for one of my best friends because she can't conceive.

Obviously I could Google but I'm looking for firsthand experience from those that have been through a private adoption. I know that it's going to be significantly cheaper because we aren't going through an agency but what are we lookin' at here as far as costs go? And what kind of hoops are we going to have to go through?

Obviously we've talked about it if I'm trying to conceive a child for her, lmao. I'm not just going to get knocked up and hope for the best.

Surrogacy costs around $30,000 and there's just no way in hell we can afford it but it was our first thought.

Watching. My BFF can't conceive either.. I've thought about carrying for her. But they don't have the money to do the artificial insemination stuff and implant in me, plus pay all the doc fees etc. I feel terrible for her and wish there was something more I could do :(

They would but she's one of my best friends so I'm trying to help her out in any way I can. $30,000 is a lot of money when I could just make my own baby and give that to her.

Quoting rosie has a vagina.:" That's EXACTLY where I'm coming from. And since I'm so fertile and I know I can care a healthy, adorable baby to term, I'm just gonna have one of my own and give it to her, lol."

That thought has crossed my mind also.. but in all honesty, I think it would be too painful for me. In my mind, carrying someone else's baby and giving it to them is bearable, giving my own child to someone else isn't something I could do :(

I give you a lot of credit. It takes a very mentally and emotionally strong woman to do that!!
