Why won't they let you see baby? Push for them to stay with you. My dd was nursing as soon as we got in the recovery room. There's No reason for them to take the baby from you. But usually as long as you bf in te first 6 hrs its fine unless they have blood sugar issues or some thing. But yes get baby on the breast ASAP. Ask for a LC. They'll usually stick up for you. Try not to give them a bottle of you can avoid it. Nurse as much as LO wants and don't watch the clock. Even if they want to just suckle it will help your milk come in. You can do this mama. Have BG at arms reach in case you need to make an emergency post!!! Don't let the nurses bully you into anything before asking on here first!!!! I was told nurses only take a 5 hr bfin class. And those of us on here have bf and have lived tgrough some of the issues and have been giving advice on here for years and have done lots of our own research day in and day out.

[snip!] ... wouldnt leave(i told everyone to get out they just kept coming back in) plus my milk didnt come in until a week or so later.."</blockquote>

That is sad stuff to keep you from bfing. Good luck with this one, remember your actual milk won't be in for like 7-14 days after birth. But you can still breastfeed you will have what is called colostrum it is the best thing for your baby. It has all the nutrients and great immune boosting antibodies in it! Also set small goals set a goal of 6 weeks and reasses when you get there then 3 months and reasses when you make it there. The first 6 weeks can be tough but well worth it.

To be safe tell them you are breastfeeding so not to give your baby a binky or bottle.
