Miscarriage or not? Cassi♥DLKA♥ 4 kids; Victoria, Texas 23081 posts

Ok, question for those of you ladies who have had a MC.

Two days ago, my sister went to the ER because she was bleeding and cramping. She said the US they did didn't show anything, and was told that her levels were low. That's all the ER said/did.
She went to her dr the next day, and they redid blood work, and told her to come in weekly to get it redone and make sure her levels were dropping. Yesterday, she was barely bleeding and not cramping. Apparently, according to her dr though, she has a tilted uterus, which according to the research my mom and I have done, is the leading cause of misdiagnosed MC, because in many cases you can't see anything via U/S until about 11 weeks or so, and my sister would be a little over 7.
So, IMO, things were looking more like she WASN'T miscarrying.
Well, now she text me last night and said that she took a test again, and it was VERY negative. No line at all.
So...is there any hope left at all that it's not a MC? Anyone get told they had one, and get a negative test, and still be pregnant?

She will have to keep getting bloodwork and seeing if her levels drop.

Well if her blood level drops and continues then yes she probably did have a miscarriage.

I have a tilted uterus and we've been able to see things fine as early as 5 weeks, so if her levels are falling and they aren't seeing anything than unfortunately she probably did have a miscarriage. If they did a transvaginal US than it's very unlikely that they would have missed a fetus. If she has a layer of fat across her belly that can make it hard to see with an US, but not impossible. In this case she'll have to wait and see, but if she was having heavy bleeding and passing tissue than a miscarriage is very likely.

If a test is showing negative it's a pretty slim chance her levels are doubling, I'm sorry :( At 7 weeks they should have seen something through a transvaginal ultrasound. I have a VERY tilted uterus, always is, it's pretty much facing my back, but with a transvaginal you should see something at 7 weeks. However, it IS possible for her to be not nearly as far along as she thinks.

It wasn't heavy bleeding, and no clots.

I'm hoping it's not one. We don't know if her levels are dropping or if they were just low, the ER told her they were low, and her DRs office didn't really say anything that day, just to keep coming in.

And to add, I had a miscarriage end of November/beginning of December so I am already on edge, and I have thought I was miscarrying 282958726 times this current pregnancy because I bleed, a lot, off and on :x So, it does happen.

I told her that too, with my 20 month old I was, apparently, really early. It took 3 U/S to see anything, and they changed my EDD by, like, 10 days.

Has she taken another test to rule out a faulty test? If she's testing negative now it's most likely a miscarriage. I'm sorry. :(

My daughter's due date was off by 2 weeks according to my LMP and first sonogram. This baby is off by a whole week, and it's continuing to grow accordingly.

They should be checking her levels again within 48 hours, not a week apart. If her levels are dropping, she is going through a miscarriage. That is what my levels did and honestly if her PG test is coming back negative, she most likely had a miscarriage. They also should have been able to see everything through a vaginal ultrasound. I'm sorry but it doesn't look good unless she miscalculated her due date...Good luck.

i wouldn't trust the ER doctors. i've never had a MC but when i went into the ER because of some bleeding they told me i did ONLY because they didn't see anything on the ultrasound.... i was only 4 weeks!! there's not gonna be a giant baby in there lol. now i'm 5 weeks and 1 day away from seeing my baby girl. i really hope they are wrong like they were with me.

the only reason why i didn't have a D&C is cause they decided to send me to check my levels to just make sure before they did it. which were a little higher within the two days i had to wait.

when i went to the ER they couldn't see anything with the vaginal ultrasound. so it's possible they couldn't see anything if she's early enough.

If her levels continue to drop, it's hard not so say she isn't miscarrying. I would monitor her levels, but the fact the test is negative isn't promising.
