traditions and social conventions. Some cultures do it differently.

I've kinda wondered the same thing, when we ttc again our daughter we also be 4, so it will be about 4.5 years since my last babyshower but I would be starting all over. I think I'd like one.

oh also op, a lot of people that just need refresher kind of stuff do a pounder party, everyone brings a lb of diapers wips, baby shampoo or whatever it is they bring.. it avoids the akwardness of hey i have to bring your present back because i already have one! lol

I think it's fine if someone wants to throw one for you, but like some other ladies have said, I would stress NO PRESENTS or possibly request that they only give diapers? Personally, I didn't want one for DS (he's our only child), but SO's family forced it on me.

I would have a diaper and wipe party. That's what I did for my second.

I had one for each of my older kids and they were just shy of 4 years apart. I invited a different group of friends unless the friends from the first wanted to come. I had a boy then a girl and very few of my baby items lasted after my son. Plus showers are just plain fun!!!! Now my youngest will be 10 when this baby is born and I have nothing left...not only that but I remarried and have a new set of family!

I didn't have a shower with #2, I did not want people to feel obligated to buy things. But I still got nearly as much stuff for #2 as I did with my first.

that sucks.. thats how my first one was.. I was planning my own stinking party and no one wanted or could come. I was 17 and trying to make the most of it, but i just dont think they cared much. My mom did buy me quite a bit once i had him though.. he was a premie and had NOTHING that would even come close to fitting

I havent heard the best about cloth diaper, I think there is much more that eco-friendly when it comes to cloth diapering. One diaper takes 500 years to decompose. If you have the time and get a sewing machine you can learn to sew your own liners an covers, and as for water waste I always been curious about the same thing but havent came across any proof that it more wasteful to cloth diaper, it takes alot of factory power & chemicals to make a diaper.
