pain behind the knee? melanie-mommy of 2 3 kids; Mifflintown, Pennsylvania 4689 posts

so all day i've had this ache behind my left knee. it feels almost like a muscle cramp. but i can't relieve it by stretching my leg or anything. i think it looks slightly swollen. and my ankles are a little swollen tonight. anybody else ever have this? i've often had inner thigh pain or sciadic nerve, but this is something new to me.

when my legs ache back there I usually attribute it to this ugly vein I have back there.

oh no. i'm honestly worried i'm going to get varicose veins with this baby. i never did with my other 2, but i'm worried about it happening this time.

Is there any way you can have someone look and see it it's reddened too? Is it in any way a "burning" or "pinching" feeling? Those, with the swelling, could signal a dvt or blood clot

Honestly i would talk to your doc. Not to freak you out but it could be a clot. Does it feel warm to the touch?

my hubby looked at it and can't see really anything besides it being slightly swollen.

In the mean time, keep your leg elevated and if the pain gets too bad or you feel it moving up your leg, please go to the er. Clots can easily travel. I had really bad clots and the thought of anyone going through what I did freaks me out. (Not that it is for sure a clot)

Don't touch or manipulate the area and try to bend the knee as little as possible. I'd say you prob need to call the on call service your ob offers.

If at any point you become short of breath GO TO THE ER IMMEDIATELY
