I'd been on seizure meds from the time I was 14 up until I got pregnant with my son. I had to stop taking them when I got pregnant because they could cause cleft lip/palate in pregnancy. I never got back on it after LO was born because I wanted to breastfeed and just...Never got back on it lol.
I have atonic seizures AKA drop seizures. But I hadn't had one in years, so I thought I was good. The last really serious one I had was when I was 18 and stopped breathing during a seizure. Four years later, I've been overall great til last night. I was getting a tattoo, just zoning out on some Sucker Punch that he had playing and bam. I'm pretty sure I bit my tongue but not through my tongue so woo, and I'm pretty sure I landed face first because my head hurts in one particular spot. I was also really sleepy afterwards (Like, fighting to stay awake) and usually I get sleepy, but not that sleepy. The only time I've ever been that sleepy is when I had a concussion. I did vomit about...Three times last night so it is possible.
I think it's time to go back on meds. DH says I should go to the ER immediately  and try to get a prescription to get back on meds, I say I will be fine waiting til this week and making an appointment with my physician. Like I said, this is the first serious one I've had since I was 18, but I do recognize that I do need medication but don't see it as ER worthy. What do you think?

Personally, I would go, especially if you landed "face first" as you said. You should at least make sure you don't have a head injury. How are you feeling today?

I'm feeling just kind of...Bleh. Like not fantastic, kinda just made it out of bed and landed in the chair and haven't moved lol. But I'm also one of those people that have a hard time waking up, so I'm really not sure yet lol.
My head hurts, but other than that I think I'm alright.

Well, it's your choice. That's just my personal opinion as a nurse.

Yeah lol, I completely hear ya. I may go if by the time DH gets back home (Morning meeting at work, should be home in about half an hour or so) I'm not perking up a little more. The only hospital I trust is a 45 minute drive compared to the local 20 minute drive one, but I would rather lay in a ditch and die a lonely death than go to the local hospital lol, they're awful.

I'm basically where you are. I've been on seizure meds since 16, and am not supposed to take them if or when I get pregnant and this is my biggest fear. I haven't had a seizure since 18, but I'm on them until I need to come off. We tried taking me off a few times to see if it was a growth spurt in the brain or something weird, but each time after several months or so, I'd go grand mal again. It's SO frustrating.

I would go the ER if you felt concussion-y ... The drowsiness and throwing up are definitely a bad sign. Otherwise, I wouldn't say it's worth it. Seeing as you're not directly post-seizure and you didn't blow a pupil or anything, there probably isn't a ton they can do, unless having it documented by your hospital can expedite a referral to a neurologist.

But yeah, sounds like you need to go back on meds :( I'm sorry.

Ah, I'm alright with going back on meds. I was hoping to never have to go back on them but I guess I'll deal lol.
I'm definitely glad I was able to be off of them during the pregnancy though, so I feel you there. It can cause problems for sure, low chance, but it's still a risk.

I don't know what you're on, but my neurologist was basically like 'DO NOT GET PREGNANT YOUNG GIRL. YOU HAVE TO PROMISE. IT IS DANGEROUS.'
I'm on oxcarbazepine and clobazam. They're actually doing a number on my crappy right kidney, but it beats falling over and seizuring out in public, not being allowed to drive, etc.
Just wondering though, could the movie or the tattooing have triggered it? I don't know if you have triggers or not ... Either some effect in the movie or the stress on your body from the tattoo ... Obviously you had a baby without meds, but the weirdest things set them off.
Nothing puts a damper on a weekend like an unexpected seizure! They're the hugest nuisances ever haha.
