My lactation nurse said don't pump until 6 weeks pp. The more you pump the less you'll get because pumping doesn't do the same thing as the baby does. The baby's lips massage the breast in a way pumping doesn't. I wouldn't recommend pumping at all right now.

Yes you can pump now :) It won't do any harm. Some people can only pump at birth and go on to breastfeed successfully. It's not going to hurt you at all to pump after he feeds. I had to exclusively pump for at least 5 weeks, he wouldn't even latch. Now we're at a year, and still breastfeeding, even through a pregnancy. You'll do just fine, and it's great to have a store!

DO NOT pump if you are also nursing. It will wreak havoc on your milk supply. Wait until your supply is regulated around 6 weeks.

It's different if baby will latch and is actively nursing. It's basically telling your body to make double, which can cause oversupply, sore boobs and mastasis.

Oh really? Learn something new every day. They told me to pump after even when he latched on rare occasions so I figured it was okay.
