Hi, I have a few tattoos on my body. But I just noticed that the larger one on my right shoulder blade has the outlines swollen and its really itchy. The tattoo is almost 3 years old now. So I checked my other tattoos and its only the newest ones from within the last 3 years that have swelling in the outlines. I'm trying to get pregnant, I took a test yesterday morning and it was negative. It could be too early for the home test still. But could the swelling and itchy tattoos be a sign of very early pregnancy? I'm having a hard time finding solid info to support this!!

I have no idea.. but I know my tattoo's itch occasionally. It's kind of weird actually.

Not really. Tattoos raise up from time to time and itch. No biggie.

I've never had my tattoos act up when pregnant. Did you just switch soap or something? Maybe allergic reaction??

Everything has stayed the same. Same soap, same detergent, same everything. I just noticed it a few hours ago. I've never had my tattoos swell (especially just the outlines) since they've all healed. This one that is driving me nuts is almost 3 yrs old.

That is weird. I've have my tattoos for years and never had that. I didn't even know it was a possibility that they would just randomly start itching again lol

It's normal. I've had the tattoo across my back for about 3 years and it itches/raises up.

I know I'm late coming in to this post, but I have had the same problem with some of my tattoos. I asked my doctor about it and he basically said that a tattoo is just like any other form of scar tissue where it will randomly act up and be itchy. It's the same reason stretch marks can be itchy even years after having them.

Though, my tattoos (especially the one on my forearm) act up a lot since I've been pregnant :)

Congrats on the baby! Due very soon!! :)

My tattoos never did anything when I was pregnant before. But there has also been 7 yrs since my last pregnancy and 3 new tattoos since then too! But now the swelling is completely gone!! But it's still very itchy!!

I know its a late reply, first, congrats! Second my tattoos itched alot in the beginning of my pregnancy but seem fine now, I attributed it to the hormone changes making dry skin and scarred skin itch. I'm still really dry but find that using eucerin severe dry skin lotion helped a ton. 3 Rd, congrats again!
