I feel I will respect you, but if you don't respect me after I respect you from that point on you would have to earn my respect that's my opinion on it.

im not one to do wrong just because someone else did. Thats like a little kid saying, "but He hit me first". So I just treat everyone the way I would want to be treated, and if they want to be an a*****e then thats on them.

Everyone has the right from birth to be treated with respect until they show they don't deserve it.

You shouldn't disrespect people until they prove to you they deserve it. That's a pretty fast way to earn disrespect yourself.

I was raised that to get respect you have to give respect. I will respect someone until they give me a reason not to.

Respect is absolutely earned and, tbh, I don't give it easily. You have to do something pretty awesome to earn my respect.

However, I am respectFUL toward people, I just don't have a deep respect FOR someone, unless they earn it.

I am respectful from the beginning with anybody. But it's easy to lose it and hard to get back. I don't think anybody should be disrespected just because they aren't known though.

Everyone deserves a basic level of respect and civility, to be truly held in high regard is earned, IMO.

I think that everyone deserves basic human respect regardless of whether or not it has been earned. There are higher levels of respect that can be obtained by proving oneself.
