I am considering a home birth with a midwife. I am interviewing my first one this week.

What are some good questions to ask a midwife? I can figure out the basics, but is there anything specific you would ask?

me again haha....

ask if you need suturing after delivery, it she does this... that is a big one.. as some do not.
ask if she has breech delivery experience.
ask if she has emergency equipment, oxygen etc.

How many clients, who would be there if she's out of town, does she have a doula/assistant with her (mine came with a doula), how many births a month does she average, does she have birthing pool rentals, what do you need to provide for the birth, what are her favorite snacks (no joke I won my mw's heart with that one lol)

Thanks girls! I am excited to interview this girl. She was recommended to me by 3 friends. She has 9 kids, 7 of which she birthed at home. She has been doing it for 19 years and over 400 births =) YAY!

What does she have in case the baby would come out not breathing?

How long would she wait to consider taking you to the hospital for a c-section?

How early is too early to consider still doing a home birth? Personally, if she said 36 weeks or earlier, I'd find another midwife. My midwife would only do 37 weeks on because she didn't want to risk the possibility that the baby's lungs weren't fully developed.

How long has she been delivering for?

How many babies has she delivered?

Has she ever had to take anyone to the hospital? If so, what for?

Does she deliver breech babies?
