I understand that waitressing is great and pays well but now that you are getting your certification you should really go towards that!! that is awesome, congrats!!! Most maternity laws that I am aware of you need to work at least a year with said company to be eligible for maternity leave. I think if you show them you are willing to work hard, have good work ethics, they will rehire you after your 3 months off, most ppl tend to be understanding IMO. Regarding the starting your business, def don't recommend that for a million and one reasons! not sure whether to go into it or not, but it's not as easy as you think, it's more expensive than you think, long story short, it's better to just find yourself a nice comfortable job to have and get a gauranteed paycheck after your hard work... good luck finding a job, it's not easy whether pregnant or not these days.

Employers do not need to know right away that your pregnany, at least not around here. I got a job at 23 or so weeks pregnant and just recently told them. I was in cosmetology school and all the salons I talked to were very understanding. But thats also in Iowa so I cant speak for anywhere else. Since your not very far along it probably wouldn't be a huge deal right now, but I wouldn't tell a new work place right off the bat. But with my job im taking unpaid time off, but I have help during that time. If you have someone helping you out you could do the same. But then again if your worried then maybe stick it out at your current job a little while longer
