Patience. Walk like crazy, bounce on a labor ball, things like that are what have helped my sister go into labor. The baby will come when the baby's ready. If you're not dilated yet that means the baby isn't ready. You can have this sort of "false" labor for weeks unfortunately!

Walking not only helps labor on it can help with the pain, you can also take a shower and rock. I know that sounds silly but just rock your hips and lean forward so the water is running on your back. It makes you feel a lot better.

I asked the hospital if it was real labour just to be sure and they said yes.. i think im more frustrated as they sent me home for the sake of one minute! i was progressing so within half an hour prob would have got to 4 mins but they sent me home and told me to lie down.. which ended up slowing things down... is so painful i dont know how much longer i can cope :(

If you can't take it go back in, tell them about how much pain you're in.

If things slowed down from laying down it's probably just false labor or early labor honestly. My sister went to the hospital 3 times with my nephew over a course of a week and a half before she was in real active labor. She'd go, not be dilated, contractions would slow down when she'd lay down and they'd send her home. If you're in real labor the contractions keep coming closer and closer no matter what you do. Try the walking, walk as much as you can. Go shopping for a few hours and see if that helps. I've also heard eating spicy food can help! Good luck!!!
