My son is a blonde. Like a true blonde, not a dirty blonde or a sandy blonde. He's not quite platinum except toward the end of the summer when he's been outdoors 24/7.

DH and I both have dark hair (pics of us all on profile, I think). So, everyone keeps telling us he'll get darker eventually, etc.

He'll be FOUR in a couple months. His hair has darkened maybe a shade in that time. Not much at all---maybe none, since it hasn't lightened yet for summer. At age 4, how likely is it that he'll darken significantly from here on?

I don't think he'll always have *light* blonde hair, but I definitely think he'll always be my lil blonde beach boy (especially in the summer)---and I have several blonde cousins and DH has a blonde sibling, so its not like there aren't some true blonde genes in there. Everyone I know who went darker as a kid did it before they were as old as DS.

My BD had white-blonde pin-straight hair until he turned 7.

Then it turned medium brown and got super curly.

I'm thinking it won't. Even his leg hair is light and he's fair skinned too and freckled lightly on his face.

It may darken a little, but I really think he's blonde for life!

It could get dark still. Both SO and I had very light blonde hair until about 6 or 7 and now we both have medium-dark brown hair.

Supposedly my uncle was too. Not the straight/curly part, but the blonde/brown part. But he has 3 daughters who are all blonde as adults (med blonde now, platinum as kids)

Maybe?? My son is very light complected too, his leg hair, arm hair and back hair (yes he has back hair, lol) is light light blonde. But his head is darker now. i noticed now that we are outside more his hair is getting darker as well. I also noticed he has a birth mark on his face that is getting darker as well.

its pretty likely to happen. (not necessarily saying it WILL, just that it can happen)

my son was born with red (some blonde) and is now almost the platinum blonde like you were referring to. when i was born my hair was DARK black. then when i was about 4-6ish it was also an almost platinum. like SUPER light blonde. it got a bit darker the years after and when i hit puberty my hair turned dirty blonde. it still is naturally dirty blonde, but if i don't get out in the sun for months and months, it almost looks brown, even though in reality it is dirty blonde.

my mom's natural color is brown and my dad's is dark brown.

i think puberty can change anything lol. one guy i knew, his hair went from pin straight to incredibly curly.

My husband had beautiful blonde hair until he was in about 3rd grade and then it gradually went brunette. If you think about it, there are not many adult men that you see with blonde hair.
