So yesterday my parents took home a newborn after signing adoption papers. There was a 14 day waiting period and today the birth mom decided she wants her baby back. What she doesn't know is that she can't have her baby back... She has already had children taken for severe abuse and neglect by CPS and they already have a 6 month order to take the baby if this was to happen. Except when they told her about the 14 day waiting period they led her to believe that if she where to change her mind she could have her baby back. Well today the social workers told my mom they are going to wait until my mom hands the baby back then serve her with the papers and take her. I can't help but feel so bad for her. She's going in believing she will get her baby back only to be handed her and have her taken away again :( the whole situation just makes me sad for everyone involved.

I don't feel bad for her. If she's an unfit mother it's in the child's best interest.

thats so sad. i had a neighbor that did that... she wanted to give the baby up for adoption she told everyone but later we found out she did it just so she could get money. In vermont i only had either 24 or 48 hours to change my mind. i obviously didnt because that what was best for him... your poor mother... and i kinda feel for that girl.

I don't feel bad that she can't have the baby back I feel bad for her because she was told that if she wanted her baby back she could have her and they are going to let it go as far as her having her baby in her arms thinking she can leave with her and then taking her away.

I don't feel bad for the birth mother because she's unfit, but I feel sorry for your mom who has to give up the baby for any amount of time.

I think it's messed up that they are even giving her a shred of hope instead of giving it to her straight.

True, but they shouldn't dupe her. It would be devastating for someone to hand me DD and telling me I could take her home, then suddenly snatch her away and yell "SIKE!"
Kwim?

I agree she should never have the baby, though.

Well it's probably for the best really. It's not like they would do that to some poor innocent person. She would have to have some serious shit going on with her previous children for them to be so adamant about it.
How long until your parents would get the baby back?

No offense but this sounds like a load of crap. Your mom has the baby, right? Why wouldn't they just tell birth mom "sorry, standing order to take the baby so you wouldn't get it back anyway". I honestly see nobody doing this.

Yeah that sucks, and I really don't think it's professional. Also if she's known to be abusive she might blow up. Especially since she just had a baby and hormones are raging.

She may not get to keep her. The mother is first nations so her Band has rights as far as deciding where the child goes and if she has any suitable family members that are willing to take her they will get her since family members come first before unrelated families.
