PDA in front of kids Mama Rice 34 kids; North Las Vegas, Nevada 11980 posts

My DH and I have never been big fans of PDA outside of our bedroom, however lately he has been really into kissing and hugging and other displays of affection (nothing inappropriate just not something they are used to). My DD has started getting really upset by it, telling me it is gross, asking why I am kissing daddy like that, etc. If your kids react like that too PDA how do you handle it?

tell her it's normal and you guys love each other. by never having any display of affection in front of kids, they have dysfunctional views of what a relationship should be.

My daughter says the same thing. I let it go. But you can't really blame them because I mean who wants to see their parents kissing :)

Agreed, but tell her that it is what moms and dads do when they love each other or you'll have the same problem I did. My 2 year old, at the time now 4, wanted to kiss me like daddy did because he loved me too.

My 2 year old says STOOPPPPPPP, that's MY mummy!!

I'd just tell her that mommy and daddy love each other and that's how you show it :)
My parents weren't in love when I was a kid and I could tell. I found it so weird at a friends birthday party when I saw her parents have a little kiss! I wish that my parents had been like that and in love.

I told DD that since she never kisses me anymore I gots to get my sugar from somewhere! Hehe

We aren't very affectionate in public, never have been. Our relationship isn't dysfunctional or anything.

My bf and I will give each other little kisses, hugs, and hold hands in front of our sons. Usually they don't say anything. Sometimes they will say "eww" and giggle though.

My parents were never showed any type of affection around me while I was growing up. It took forever for me to realize what was normal. Even seeing couples holding hands when I was younger would make me highly uncomfortable because I was never around it or taught it was acceptable.

I think the best thing you can do for your kids is love one another in front of them.

I love the quote - the greatest gift a father can give to his children is to love their mother :)
