So last night Ds (4 1/2) had a friend sleep over for the first time. They played hard and stayed up too late. Well, at like 3:00 I heard him crying in his sleep, and I went in there and he had a fever of 102.8 and was really disoriented. When we were finally able to wake him up and calm him down enough to ask what hurt, the only thing he could complain about was his eyes. He has really bad seasonal allergies and his eyes have been bothering him for weeks. No sore throat, no tummy ache, it doesn't hurt to go to the bathroom, nothing. Just a fever, chills, and his eyes hurting. I gave him some ibuprofen and it went down to about 101 and he went to sleep. He woke up this morning and his temperature is 98.0. I'm wondering if the medicine just hasn't worn off. But usually, ibuprofen only brings his temp down to 99 or 100 when he has a fever. He's definitely sick though, right, if he was running 102.8? Or could it have been a fluke??

maybe he just had a flare up of his allergies. i would just keep an eye on him the rest of the day. if he is acting fine now and no fever.

Can allergies cause fever without a sinus infection?? I don't have a lot of seasonal allergies except for breaking out into hives every now and then, so I'm not familiar with them all that much. If they can, that would make sense!

His nose is a little runny. I don't know why I assumed it wasn't possible for him to actually HAVE a sinus infection... hahaha. It's very possible that's what it is... he's been having the worst go of it with allergies this season.
