Don't ask me! I don't know sh*t about cars, lol. I just know she wants it, but we're leaning towards the range rover. It's cheaper where we live and she's a small girl 5'6 so if she gets into an accident, I would want the cars to hit the metal, not the poor girl. lol.

An audi or range rover is to much for a 16 y/o imo. Especially as a first car.

You want a safe car. Get her a subaru. Seriously who is going to pay to keep up the vehicle. What if she gets a flat because tires for those cars aren't cheap. An oil change can cost $100+ easily.

It doesn't matter, it isn't about how good you think she is or takig advantage of you, as a parent I know how I would feel. I would not want my child having luxurious items rained down upon them. And honestly, if it is about how much money you are spending on her, why don't you guys buy her a more reasonable car for a 16 yr old, and put the other money towards her living expenses in this ivy league school?

I got a locket when I turned 16.
I didn't get my first car til just before I turned 18, and my sister gave me her old car. It was a '96 Sundance.
I know when Heathen turns 16, she's not getting a brand new car. Or even one that's less than 5 years old.
But hey, if you really want to, and it's ok with the mother, go for it. I'd be more concerned about safety of a vehicle over just what she wants.

She has financial aid & scholarships for the school. That was our first option in her present, we were going to pay for her dorming & books. But she got the scholarships and her mother is paying for some of the schooling. What cars do you guys suggest because I am clueless..

:!: This.

Audi's and range rovers have costly maintenance. If you were going to get one; why not get a simpler, more affordable vehicle for maintenance?

My boyfriend is taking care of all the finances. He doesn't mind because he and the niece have such a great bond. We agreed that we're going to take care of the bills for the car until she turns 20 (the time she's expected to graduate). She's looking into getting a job when she moves to help pay for her gas, etc. I know how hard it is when you're in college and you're struggling to get a smog check, oil change, etc. We don't mind paying for it, we're just not allowed to pay for gas.

Or a Nissan or a Volvo. All safe cars.
And do take into account maintenance costs. It may be a new-ish vehicle, but certain things are more expensive for an audi or range rover
