Last night my husband and I were at my neighbors house.they have four kids. I can't remember how it came up but one of her daughters asked why other people don't smoke in front of their kids but her parents do and her mom said "because you've been around cigarette smoke your whole life and your immune to it now".

I wanted to yell bullshit right there but wasnt gonna be rude lol
is there any truth to what she said? Anybody feel the same way?

Pure bullshit. No one is even "immune" to smoke. Its disgusting to smoke with the kids right there.

It's bullshit. Of course the kids don't cough like someone who has never been exposed to it before, because they may as well be smokers themselves by the sound of it.

Asthma, ear infections, cancer...all things that can be caused by what they are choosing to do around their children.

No there is zero truth to what she said. You don't become immune to carcinogens.

The only thing long term exposure to second hand smoke will cause is health issues for those poor kids. What an ignorant idiot. When her kids have severe asthma she can keep talking about "immunity".

It sounds to me like she is immune to common sense. How does someone even come up with that line of thinking? She is very wrong. My FIL unfortunatly thinks about the same way. Did you know if an air freshener is in the other room it still sucks enough smoke carcinogens away to make it ok to smoke with a baby playing at your feet?

My parents always smoked around us when we were kids. The only thing I am "immune" to is the smell. Well not anymore. Since I have been on my own, everytime I walk into my dad's house the smell of cigarrettes blasts me in the face. It's awful.

i see nothing wrong with politely giving someone correct information when they seem to not know it, especially if that information can protect their children.

That's awful. My ex husband smokes around my daughter. He says he is not smoking in his house, but she, her clothes and all of her stuff smells like cigarettes when she comes back...YUK!
