is it that people get worked over so money? If someone has money, good for them. If someone makes a decent salary, good for them. If someone is getting government assistance, good for them.

I posted a post today about how my boyfriend and I are looking into buying a car for my niece for her sweet 16th. I suddenly got attacked by all these women claiming that my boyfriend is probably "older" and implying that I'm a "golddigger" and that I'm incapable of buying something for myself because I'm "not married with a kid". I've been with my boyfriend for over five years, yes he's older (he's 31, I'm 22), we have a son together and YES I'm not married. But being married has NOTHING to do with my finances. I find it annoying that people often associate those well off as "greedy", "money hungry", etc.

90% of the stuff you just posted that "they" said didn't actually happen.

Someone made the comment that your boyfriend must be older, and she was right.

If you internalized that as you are a gold digger, that's on you.

I don't know what post you're talking about and don't care. But, why are you getting so worked up about others getting worked up!? It's the internet...let it go?!

Jealousy?

They probably wish they had money to toss around like that. Heck, I wish I had money to do for others like that. I'll admit that I get jealous of others from time to time, but DH and I work hard for what we have (although we don't have much) and we're proud of that.

If someone says that your boyfriend is "older", "well off" and that you "probably aren't buying shit yourself", wouldn't that come off as them calling you a GOLDDIGGER? I don't really know what else they could be implying.

I'm sorry you're getting grief.

SO is 31 and I'm 24. He "bought" me a car and an iPhone. I make the payments, but he used his credit to get it for me. SO even bought our cousin a truck not long ago. It's not new, but it's nice. SO is also getting another brand new truck tomorrow.
I had a "friend" tell a bunch of people that I'm pathetic because I'm so proud of my car and phone and house, but I didn't even buy them.

It sucks and it hurts, but remember that all the haters are just jealous. If your SO has money and he's willing to help you out, good for you. It doesn't mean you're a gold digger.

No one called you a gold digger. Pretty much everyone was nice and helpful in that thread with the exception of calling you a spoiled brat because you threw a fit that your parents bought you a BMW for your 16th birthday and that's not the car you wanted.

Same ages as my BF and I. We have a daughter and another on the way. Just pay no mind to what people say or think. Their opinions are just that, opinions. Don't let anyone make your decisions but yourself. And if people feel bad about themselves or their situations, they mostly aim to make others feel down. It's sad people can be like that to others. It's a crazy world right now.

.....She really threw a fit because her parents didn't get her the "right" car? Seriously? I got a rust bucket from my parents when I was 17 and I was DAMN HAPPY I even had a car. :?

What pages did these things get said on and in what context?

I was in that thread and I saw NOTHING stating that you were a gold digger.....a little naive for wanting to buy a 16 year old a $60,000 car....but never a gold digger.
