Looking for a good bottle! Mandi Bass 1 child; Minnesota 1060 posts

DS is a micro preemie and tends to have severe gas. I'm looking for a good bottle that will help with this. We've tried Dr. Brown's and they didn't help at all. We've also tried multiple types of bottles with the liners that you can squeeze the air out of. We are currently using Playtex Ventaire and they were working great, but it seems like now that he is using the big bottles he is getting way more air into his belly. He burps all the time now, and is constantly bearing down trying to fart.Gas drops don't help at all.

Neonatologist says to try a different bottle so I'm trying to find a good one! Thanks in advance ladies!

Are they meant to help with gas? Standard bottles that are only vented through the nipple without any "extras" don't work for DS.

I've heard NUK was awesome for gas in babies. I used them w/ DS1 but I honestly couldn't stand them.

I just looked them up and they are vented exactly like Ventaire.... Thanks though!

Why didn't you like them?

Tommee Tippee have a new bottle similar to Dr Browns, maybe you could try those? I've heard MAM are good too but I couldn't find any locally when I tried to get some.

These ones and the narrow ventaire are what worked wonders for us. Especially the MAM ones. DS LOVED them.

Not to get nitpicky, but why do you think they are better? I'm trying to get good solid information before I run out and buy a bunch of new bottles.

The thing that I didn't like about them was that you had to hold the bottle a certain way bc of the way the nipple is shaped and where the milk would come out.. It wouldn't come out the tip of the nipple, it would come out the top part, if that makes sense... So if someone else where to feed him, I'd always have to explain how to feed him w/ it. I dunno. I'm weird. lol

We're on the narrow ventaire and they aren't working for DS anymore...

What makes MAM better then Ventaire? I'm skeptical because they are pretty much identical to the ventaire bottles...

That actually sounds terrible... especially if the milk doesn't come out of the tip... DS is a weirdo and will only suck the very tip of the nipple into his mouth.

We tried these and several other liner brands and none of them worked for him.

I think the vent is better designed and the nipple is way better IMO. The way the nipple is shaped is more like if the baby were to be breastfed. Not to be nosey but could part of it be the kind of formula? That was half of our problem.

I think it might have something to do with his formula, but the neonatologist swears that his formula is fine. He was on neosure but then he didn't poop for 5 days until I demanded that they do something and they finally gave him a suppository (They told me it wasn't a problem until 10 days ). I switched him to Similac Sensitive for Fussiness and Gas. Is there a formula out there that works better for gas?
