I've always washed my baby's clothes with detergent prior to birth and up until they were about 6 months. Congrats :)!

I washed them all in dreft before he came home. Once he was home I washed them in our detergent and he had no problems.

But its always a good, safe idea to wash them ahead of time. Babies skin can be very very sensitive. Congratulations you are almost there!

Yes. Clothes regardless of who they're for should always be washed first. I used dreft with my first born and liquid tide with the second and third. Thankfully none of them had any reactions to the laundry detergent.

You won't be able to put baby in the carseat while swaddled. Unless you mean something different then the swaddle me I am thinking of?

But it should be warm enough not to need mittens? Unless baby is scratching their face. DS was born in the summer and we brought him home in a cute tee shirt and shorts.

No, not usually, if they're going to be swaddled.
