It's such a shame that people have to think this way now :(

You should do whatever you feel safe with.

Just donate money. The babies won't know you didn't walk.

As close as it was to just happening, backing out as of this moment wouldn't be a bad thought. You won't be a bad person, you're just scaref after what happened. I wouldn't take the chance either in going into another large crowd of people.

While what you're feeling makes sense, you can't be scared of life. You could walk into the mall and be blown up. Treat every day like its your last and live it to the fullest. Don't be afraid of the "what ifs"

I would just donate the money and leave it at that. This is precisely whyI refuse to go to parades or anything with large crowds like that. Ive always been chicken since I was little. Gives me crazy anxiety.

Whatever. You most certainly can be scared of life.. especially if you cherish it. Not everyone is okay with today being their last day. I think it's a legitimate fear that she has and completely reasonable not to walk.

Okay, its comforting to know its not like an "unreasonable" fear...

I think I'm going to have my 4 year old help make us shirts and me, the husband, and the kids will just do our 3 mile walk that day around our town and I'll just donate more money.

I hate to be the paranoid lady but I caught one of those pictures from the boston marathon of a mom runner, running away frantically with her stroller...how horrifying, just going for a run with your kids and a bomb going off....

Everything has been...so close together, the kids getting slaughtered in the elementary school, the movie theater massacre, the marathon bombing... its all so.... much. And happening in normal day things, its not like it was banks for money or major offices for political reasons, its movies for enjoyment, events for enjoyment, schools for learning... whats next? Grocery stores, the gap? It just freaks me out... Because it just seems like there's so much more lately.

I wouldnt be going to any large city functions.

With that said, I dont think the bombing was against runners at all. And I think the running community is being a bit silly about this.

I think it was a large city, and the boston marathon is a HUGE event, not 'just' an event. I dont believe it was targeted for the event, as much as for the venue.

No, it was aimed at the spectators.. the people who were killed weren't running the race they were watching it. I remember hearing something about the major athletes already finishing the race so the people who were around were those running for charities and collecting donations. March of dimes is a charity, right?

Im no FBI agent, and do not know close to everything, Im just saying I dont think this had anything to do with the fact that it was a race, just a large amount of people at a historical event.

9-11 wasn't an attack on office workers right? It was an attack on a significant landmark in a significant city.

As said, this is just my opinion, I just may be totally wrong.

Not necessarily, it was target not only because of that but also because of the volume of people gauranteed to be in that building... so in a sense yes those workers were targeted.
